June 28th – First Quarterly, APMA SME Committee Meeting

APMA Regular Members are invited to join APMA’s newly created Small and Medium Sized Enterprise (SME) Committee. The first quarterly meeting will be held on June 28th from 10am- 12pm at the APMA offices in Toronto (with a call-in option). This committee is comprised of the most senior executive of small and medium sized automotive suppliers, classified as having 200 employees and revenues of less than $100M. Members will aim to identify and address strategic issues, share best practices, recommend solutions and promote Canadian SMEs interests / capabilities.

COMMITTEE GOALS AND DESIRED OUTCOMES

  • Be the SME ‘voice’ on issues / policy discussions / essentials for success in the industry
  • Recommend potential solutions / direction
  • Document items that may be presented to desired influencers and decision makers (Board, government, other partners, etc.)
  • Provide a regular forum to come together, discuss alignment initiatives, combine collective opinion and stay abreast of issues / developments

EXAMPLE TOPICS OF DISCUSSION

  • Market stability, forward forecast for industry demand and sustainable business for the future.
  • Costs control and more specifically Increased Energy costs, commodity prices, FX, etc.
  • Pension reform by Government invoking legislation by both the Province and Federal governments.
  • Information and better access to government programs focused on funding capital projects to feed innovation that will result in increased competitiveness and market share.
  • SRED reform and the continuance of the program. Specifically bringing back some older policies that benefited the private sector better and continuing to work with governments to prevent diverting budget spend from private and putting into public institutions
  • Identify any other topics that are important to your organization.
